Application Steps

Application Deadline: Feb. 10, 2017

STEP 1: Complete the VMDAEC Education Scholarship application by visiting www.sec.coop/scholarship. If there is no access to a computer, the form can be handwritten. Do not leave any sections blank. Failure to provide the requested information will result in disqualification. Send the application electronically via email using the submit button in the lower right-hand corner of the form or scan it and email to scholarship@vmdaec.com no later than 10 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017.

STEP 2: Compile all documents listed below. Do not staple, paper clip, insert into binders or fold. Do not send any of these documents separately. Seal all documents in one envelope in the following sequence (from front to back):

Copy of acceptance letter on postsecondary school letterhead. If not yet received or known, it can be omitted in packet, but MUST be provided before funds are dispersed.

• Recommendation letter written by someone not related to applicant.

STEP 3: Submit the envelope containing the required documents to VMDAEC Education Scholarship Selection Committee using one of two delivery options:

 • Mail — 4201 Dominion Blvd., Suite 101, Glen Allen, VA 23060

• Hand deliver — 4201 Dominion Blvd., Suite 101, Glen Allen, VA 23060

No later than 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017

In May, award notifications are emailed to applicants who have been selected to receive a scholarship. If chosen, you will be required to provide your new student ID#, your acceptance letter from the post-secondary school, and the name and mailing address of the department (Financial Aid, Registrar’s Office, etc.) that should receive your scholarship check. Funds will not be dispersed until this information is received.

If assistance is needed with any part of this application process, contact Nina Jacobs, manager of administrative services, at scholarship@vmdaec.com or call (804) 968-4084. Regretfully, due to the volume of applications received, we are not always able to notify those who will not receive a scholarship. Please feel free to call or email VMDAEC for an update on the status of your application.
